Keeper Lehmann fined for drink driving, months after chainsaw verdict

Former Germany goalkeeper Jens Lehmann was fined €1,000 ($1,104) by a Munich court on Thursday for driving under the influence of alcohol after attending Oktoberfest.

The judge said Lehmann had displayed “bad behaviour” in court and to police when arrested in September last year. Addressing Lehmann, the judge added, “You would have behaved similarly even if you were sober.”

Lehmann said: “I misjudged myself and thought I could drive.”

The drink driving fine comes after a separate long-running court saga where the 55-year-old pleaded guilty last year to attacking his neighbour’s garage with a chainsaw.
