Zelensky orders development of new interceptor drones

Ukraine has successfully deployed interceptor drones against the explosive-laden Russian drones currently attacking the capital Kiev, according to President Volodymyr Zelensky.

“Dozens of shaheds [attack drones] have just been shot down with interceptors,” said Ukrainian President Volodymyr in his daily address about the war on Friday.

He gave instructions to produce more of the unmanned counter-measures and to train the drone pilots required for their deployment.

Overnight, the Russian military flew more than 539 drones of various types at targets in Ukraine, mainly in Kiev, according to Ukrainian officials.

The Ukrainian air force managed to intercept almost 90% of them using different means. The information could not be independently verified.

Ukraine has been fighting to repel the Russian invasion for more than three years and is urging its Western allies to supply new air defence systems due to the intensity of air attacks.
