Egypt sends more aid to the Gaza Strip on day two of ceasefire

Around 220 aid trucks were sent from Egypt towards the Gaza Strip on Monday, the second day of the ceasefire between Israel and the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas.

An Egyptian Red Crescent official in North Sinai said the trucks include 10 carrying fuel. They will enter Gaza through the Kerem Shalom border crossing in the south.

He added that there are 3,000 trucks carrying humanitarian aid ready to be sent to the besieged Palestinian territory.

According to United Nations chief of humanitarian affairs, Tom Fletcher, more than 630 trucks with humanitarian aid entered Gaza on Sunday, with at least 300 of them going to the northern part of the enclave.
