The IDF struck and killed a terrorist involved in efforts to reestablish Hezbollah infrastructure in the Hanin area of southern Lebanon, the military confirmed on Monday.

In a statement, the IDF said the operative’s activity violated the ceasefire framework and posed a threat to Israel’s northern communities.

The military said that over the past week, troops operating under the 91st Division eliminated three additional terrorists who it said were working to restore Hezbollah infrastructure in southern Lebanon.

It added that forces dismantled several structures and engineering vehicles that, according to the IDF, were used by Hezbollah to advance planned attacks in the area.

The IDF also announced that, overnight, several Israeli citizens had illegally crossed the Syrian border.

IDF forces arrived at the area and, within a few minutes, were able to return all of them to Israel and transfer them into the custody of the Israel Police.

The motive or goal of the Israeli citizens has not been confirmed.

In a statement, the IDF stressed that it viewed the event as a serious risk to both civilians and IDF troops.
