[SINGAPORE] Most households in Singapore that own more than one car are those residing in non-Housing & Development Board (HDB) properties, said Acting Transport Minister Jeffrey Siow in a written answer to a parliamentary question on Tuesday (Nov 4).

As at Sep 30, there are 46,000 non-HDB households with at least two cars, compared to 20,000 HDB households. There are 9,000 non-HDB households that own at least three cars, compared to 2,000 HDB ones.

However, among households that own at least one car, there are 274,000 in HDB properties and 207,000 in non-HDB properties.

Non-HDB households could include those residing in private condominiums or landed properties.

According to the Ministry of National Development, there are more than one million HDB flats in Singapore, which house around 80 per cent of Singapore’s resident population.
