Meta Expands AI Partnership With Reliance

This article first appeared on GuruFocus.

Meta Platforms (META, Financials) is strengthening its partnership with Reliance Industries as both companies look to benefit from India’s growing demand for AI infrastructure.

Under the agreement, Reliance will build a 168-megawatt data center in Jamnagar, India, and Meta will lease capacity from the site. The companies did not disclose financial terms or a launch date.

The deal makes sense for both sides. Meta needs more computing power to support its AI tools and services. Reliance already has land, power and infrastructure in Jamnagar, giving it a strong position to support large data center projects.

The partnership also builds on an existing relationship. Meta is already an investor in Reliance’s Jio Platforms, and the two companies have worked together on AI tools for businesses using Meta’s Llama models.

For investors, the main point is clear: Meta is still spending heavily to build the infrastructure behind its AI ambitions, and India is becoming a bigger part of that strategy.
