Frustration from the Pete Alonso saga is boiling over in New York, and it's not just the fans who are voicing their displeasure.
Even local radio personnel are upset with how everything is unfolding. WFAN late-night show host Keith McPherson shared his thoughts on the situation.
"Nobody wants this dude (Alonso), bro," said McPherson. "Eventually, he's going to be a Met, and I don't think any relationship is damaged."
McPherson went on more about how Alonso would never win anything if he chose to sign with the Toronto Blue Jays, the other team reportedly interested in his services.
The aforementioned statement from McPherson couldn't be further from the truth in not one, but two ways.
While none of the teams may want to sign Alonso at his market value of six years, $175 million, saying nobody wants him at all is just wrong. The Mets and Blue Jays wouldn't be throwing out offers or talking to his agent, Scott Boras, if nobody wanted him.
Also, the relationship with the Mets may not be damaged completely, but it will be tarnished. Thinking Alonso and Boras won't look at Steve Cohen and David Stearns differently now is just ridiculous.
Even if Alonso stays a member of the Mets for the rest of his career and makes his way to Cooperstown, his image of the organization will always be tainted.
Kerry Miller of Bleacher Report is predicting the Mets bring back Alonso on a three-year, $75 million deal.
