Queen Camilla Opts for Fiona Clare Black and Blue Look and Wears the Tudor Crown Brooch for Buckingham Palace Reception

Queen Camilla styled another glittering brooch and a sartorial look from one of her go-to designers for her latest hosting engagement at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday in London. The queen consort celebrated the final of the BBC’s creative writing competition, mingling with finalists, judges and celebrity readers.

For the special occasion, Queen Camilla opted for a look courtesy of one of her two go-to designers, Fiona Clare. The London-based designer’s apparel featured a dark blue skirt and a black jacket, which Queen Camilla wore with a pair of black boots by Russel & Bromley.

As for her accessories, the queen consort wore her signature Van Cleef & Arpels bracelets and styled a pair of white gold and sapphire tassel earrings by Fabergé. The standout accessory of Queen Camilla’s ensemble, however, was yet another brooch from the British royal family member’s collection.

Queen Camilla wore the Tudor Crown brooch for the special Buckingham Palace reception on Wednesday. The glittering piece features a silvering setting with dazzling diamonds and a base adorned with a single sapphire, ruby, and emerald.

The brooch has special significance as it directly relates to King Charles III’s reign. The Tudor crown is featured as part of King Charles III’s official cypher design. The same crown was also reportedly used as the symbol during the reigns of Edward VII, George V and George VI.

Queen Camilla wore the brooch on a previous occasion. While the queen consort and King Charles were touring Scotland in July 2023, Queen Camilla fastened the shimmering brooch to her pale blue skirt suit attire.

During her recent public engagements over the course of the last several weeks, Queen Camilla styled several brooches from her personal collection and those she inherited for the late Queen Elizabeth II, following the long-reigning monarch’s passing in September 2022.

At a reception at Buckingham Palace honoring the efforts of humanitarian leaders and organizations on Feb. 20, Queen Camilla wore the matching Cartier Greville ivy leaf brooches, which previously belonged to Queen Elizabeth II.
