Security sources: Christmas market suspect not a known Islamist

The man arrested following a suspected attack on a Christmas market in Magdeburg was not previously on law enforcement’s radar as a known Islamist, security sources tell dpa.

According to initial findings, the man is said to be around 50 years old and from Saudi Arabia.

A car ploughed into the Christmas market near city hall on Friday evening, killing at least one person and injuring more than 10 others, according to authorities.
