Here at WWD Shop, we’re Tabby evangelists, meaning our editors own the bag in multiple iterations, love the bag, and will take every opportunity out there to preach about its desirability. We’re also archivists of sorts when it comes to Coach‘s Tabby — having chronicled the Chain Tabby Shoulder Bag debut at the label’s fall 2025 runway and the ways in which front-row show attendees styled it. So too did we cover the Times Square Tabby‘s arrival on the scene, the popularity of a 2024 tie dye Tabby variation (boho-chic to the max), and, most recently, the perfect-for-fall releases of the Coach Empire Bag (the very one seen in the hands of Anne Hathaway while she filmed “The Devil Wears Prada 2”) in the Loved Leather style: boasting an intentionally worn-in and vintage-inspired look. This summer, we also rushed to grab — and point readers to — new Brooklyn Bag options, swathed in pastels and deeper hues like Merlot.

All this is to say: We know a thing or two about Coach… and about the Tabby specifically. Though the silhouette was first introduced to the world in the fall of 2019, it took notes from a 1970s Coach design — being an ode to the brand’s rich legacy. In the six years since, the bag underwent many a transformation under the guidance of creative director Stuart Vevers, who is known (and lauded) for the frequent allusions to New York City edginess and youthful, downtown cool he infuses into his work.

While the Brooklyn rose to fame based on its placements as part of Bella Hadid’s model-off-duty ‘fits over the years, versions of the Tabby have been worn by everyone from Ice Spice and Lola Tung to Jennifer Lopez and Emily Ratajkowski. And while the catchall’s classic colorways — Maple, Honey Brown, and Chalk among them — will always be famous, we seriously urge shopping the celeb-approved bag’s newer releases for everyone on your list this holiday season.
