US: Wall St opens higher as December rate cut bets strengthen

Wall Street’s main indexes opened higher on Friday (Nov 21) as traders raised bets on an interest rate cut by the Federal Reserve in December following commentary from policymakers, with tech stocks stabilising after last session’s rout.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 56.4 points, or 0.12 per cent, to 45,808.65 at the open.

The S&P 500 rose 17.0 points, or 0.26 per cent, to 6,555.77, while the Nasdaq Composite rose 84.8 points, or 0.38 per cent, to 22,162.834. REUTERS
