Venezuela Fury’s 18 Bridesmaids Sported Liverpool-made Dresses

Designing bridesmaid dresses for Venezuela Fury’s wedding has turned the spotlight on Evangeline Designs so brightly that the company plans to hire more people to be able to keep up with the newfound demand.

“It’s been really big on social media. I feel like a lot of people are talking about us — in a good way,” cofounder Daisy Miller said. “We’re getting a lot more customers, so we’re booked for the next few months.”

Evangeline Designs made the 18 bridesmaid dresses in cornflower blue for Fury’s May 16 nuptials with Noah Price on the Isle of Man. The Liverpool team also dreamt up the two gold dresses that Fury sported for her two “hen nights,” as in bachelorette parties. The newlywed’s wedding day has been making headlines for days. Her parents, Paris, an author, and Tyson Fury, a heavyweight boxing champion, went all-out for the festivities and reportedly sprang for a 30,000-pound honeymoon for the eldest of their seven children. During that sun-soaked trip, Fury has been sporting some of the six outfits made by Evangeline Designs.

The company’s compensation for the bridesmaid dresses is not being disclosed due to a non-disclosure agreement, Miller said. The 16-year-old bride’s Ava Rose Hamilton wedding gown reportedly cost 40,000 pounds. One social media post of her bridesmaids generated 25,000 likes overnight, Miller said.

Evangeline Designs connected with Fury, thanks to one of the “traveling girls,” the influencer Atlantis Price, who has posted content of herself wearing the label on TikTok and Instagram. Miller said, “It got quite big. She’s one of Venezuela’s friends, and then Venezuela reached out to us.”

If having 18 bridesmaids sounds like over-the-top, consider that some trace the origins of needing a bridal party to ancient Rome, when 10 witnesses were needed for a marriage to be legal.

Asked about working with Fury, Miller said, “She’s a very nice girl. To be honest, I would rather dress traveling girls than any other girls, because the way they dress is unbelievable. The outfits that they wear are absolutely gorgeous. Venezuela is one of those girls. She is part of the gypsy community.”

Coincidentally, her professional fighter father is known as “the Gypsy King.” His 19-year-old son-in-law is an amateur heavyweight fighter.

Strangers might be surprised to learn that the 16-year-old Fury is “really down-to-earth,” according to Miller. “I feel that she’s being herself. She’s not putting an act on. She’s just a genuine person. You would think having a mom and dad who are famous would be hard, but she’s just authentic.”

Started in October by Miller and Dominique Roberts, Evangeline Designs dove into the assignment from Fury a few months ago. They started by finessing the concept, prepping samples, and then, after a little back-and-forth with the bride “to make sure that she was happy with everything,” there were a few alterations and the individual dresses were made. The custom work also required fittings with each of the bridesmaids.

The sizable bridal party took some work and covert planning. “There were so many of the same dress. And all of them had hand-sewn beading, which was a bit tedious. We usually do bridesmaids but there are never that many bridesmaids,” Miller said.

The company also designed the flower girls’ dresses, which included mesh with hand-sewn beading. At Evangeline Designs, the average price of a bridesmaid dress is approximately 400 pounds or around $537, but others will spend 1,200 or $1,612 for crystal-encrusted designs. Miller declined to comment about first-year projected volume.

Before Miller and her cofounder, Dominique Roberts, started Evangeline Designs, they each catered to traveling girls for years through their respective businesses. Roberts previously had to temporarily stop her business, due to needing half of her liver removed, Miller said

“We’ve worked so, so hard to get to this point now. People should know that if things, maybe, haven’t gone as well in the past, if you work hard and are ambitious and passionate, it will work out in the end,” Miller said.
